Remove Media Gallery Manager


Java Webstart applications are cached on the desktop computer, to avoid the need for downloading it every time the application is started. Uninstalling MGM from a computer actually means to remove it from the Java Webstart cache. This can be done on the Java control panel.
On Windows:
  1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Programs, then double click the Java icon.
  2. Click the General tab on the Preferences dialog.
  3. Find the section of Temporary Internet Files and click on Browse.
  4. The Java Cache Viewer dialog pops up showing whatever Java WebStart apps have been downloaded to the PC.
  5. Select "Media Gallery Manager" from the list
  6. Click the big red X button in the toolbar at the top of the dialog to remove Media Gallery Manager.
On Mac OS X:
  1. Click Applications -> Utilities -> then Java Preferences.
  2. Click the Network tab on the Preferences dialog.
  3. Click the "View Cache Files" button on the Network panel.
  4. The Java Cache Viewer dialog pops up showing whatever Java WebStart apps have been downloaded to the Mac.
  5. Select "Media Gallery Manager" from the list
  6. Click the big red X button in the toolbar at the top of the dialog to remove Media Gallery Manager.
On Linux (Ubuntu):
  1. Open the Java Preferences Panel by clicking menu System->Preferences->Sun Java 6 Plugin Control Panel
  2. Click the General tab on the Preferences dialog.
  3. Click the "View" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" section.
  4. The Java Cache Viewer dialog pops up showing whatever Java WebStart apps have been downloaded to the Linux machine.
  5. Select "Media Gallery Manager" from the list.
  6. Click the big red X button in the toolbar at the top of the dialog to remove Media Gallery Manager.

These steps remove the Media Gallery Manager application from your system. All MGM specific settings and cached thumbnails remain stored on the system and are preserved when Media Gallery Manager is reinstalled again.

How to clean MGM specific settings and cached thumbnails?

Delete cached galleries and thumbnails

On Windows XP
Delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\MediaGalleryManager\cache\
On Windows Vista and Windows 7
Delete the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MediaGalleryManager\cache\
On Mac OS X
Delete the folder ~/Libary/Application Support/MediaGalleryManager/cache/
On Linux
Delete the folder /home/<username>/.MediaGalleryManger/cache/

Delete personal settings

On Windows XP
Delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\MediaGalleryManager\preferences\
On Windows Vista and Windows 7
Delete the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MediaGalleryManager\preferences\
On Mac OS X
Delete the folder ~/Libary/Application Support/MediaGalleryManager/preferences/
On Linux
Delete the folder /home/<username>/.MediaGalleryManger/preferences/
On Windows XP
Delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\MediaGalleryManager\
On Windows Vista and Windows 7
Delete the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MediaGalleryManager\
On Mac OS X
Delete the folder ~/Libary/Application Support/MediaGalleryManager/

Delete the folder /home/<username>/.MediaGalleryManger/
