I am currently evaluating possibilities to add this feature and would like to discuss some details with users passing by.
Each folder of an image depot on the local harddrive can contain an optional text file with some parameters for a group or gallery. This file contains metadata/parameters of this folder. These parameters are set for newly created groups and galleries during synchronize operation (bulk upload).
The text file can be written by any tool or script a photographer may use in his workflow.
The text file has a fixed name like _mgmfolder.txt. Each line of the file represents a parameter. Each parameter consists of a name the equal sign and a value. All parameters are optional and can appear in any order within the file.
For example:
_mgmfolder.txt for a gallery containing:
Accesscode = bigfatgreekwedding
Password = topsecure
Title = The Wedding of my Best Friend
Caption = Adam and Eve's wedding in Las Vegas.
Keywords = wedding,bride,groom,ceremony
Parameters can be added in the future when Zenfolio adds parameters to galleries and groups and allows to set them via API.
If the file is not existing the title of a new gallery is derived from the folder name as it is done today.
If the file can not be opened during sync operation or the file is corrupted then an error message is written to the protocol window and the sync operation continues with using the folder name as the title for the new gallery.

Does this make sense? Any further ideas?
